Great beginner tape. August 22, 2002 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This workout is excellent for the beginner, and the not terribly flexible. Alternate positions are shown and you can progress at your own rate. This is very important with any exercise program. I have not perspired with this one (I've had it two years) but if I neglect my workouts, it does make my muscles a bit sore. The instructions are easy to follow. After the first couple of times, you should be able to do the routine without looking at the screen. Jane even tells you when and how to breathe. This is a great plus because your breathing is very important in Yoga, or any other exercise. Overall, you can't go wrong with this one, no matter what your fitness level.
so slow....... February 11, 2002 3 out of 8 found this review helpful
I do not have anything against Ms. Fonda but this tape, even with the use of sun salutations, is slow slow slow. If you like Power Yoga, by all means stay away from this one as it is slow and you will not enjoy it. If slow is what you are looking for, you may want to give this one a try but then again the basic Living Arts tapes are still much much better than this.
To slow and boring January 8, 2002 Geir Ove (Oslo Norway) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This video is very slow and repetitive, so I give this 1 point. I think to hold any attention for long it has to be better. At least for me this was a bad experience. Try real yoga of those who know how to teach it for beginners. Try "Back Care Yoga for Beginners". ...
Excellent November 30, 2001 Rabia (Canada) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you are the type of person who finds it hard to follow a video without constantly looking at the tv screen, this video is good for you because her cueing is absolutely terrific. Jane Fonda is oh so graceful in this routine. Truly inspiring. I like that she is not talking in any of the routines. Her voice is coming seperately, which makes the audio especially clear and the video more pleasant to watch because you're not supposed to be talking while doing yoga anyway. I also think this is geared towards people who are new to yoga as the pace is slow and it centres around one routine, the sun salutation.
Great First Yoga Video August 10, 2001 Heather (Springfield, MO) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is by far the best beginners yoga tape I have seen. She is very descriptive of every move and breath, and shows how to get from one postion to the next if you are not yet Gumby. Very relaxing way to work up a sweat! This is a great stepping stone to get you accustomed to basic positions and breathing, with out getting overwelmed. I'm sending this on to my Mom, who purchased a Denise Austin yoga video and couldn't keep up with it. I'm sure she'll enjoy this one, as will you!
