humor is a great way to deal with stressJuly 25, 2002 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am part of a group of twelve ladies who are in a Life Skills program. We watched the video The Joy of Stress today. It was so good. We laughed all the way through it. Loretta has a unique and wonderful way of dealing with stress. I will certainly look at my stress in a different light from now on. It really showed me that I can laugh at myself.I have dealt with a lot of stress in my life and have never dealt with it in a healthy way.Over the last few years with the help of Alcoholics Anonymous I have been learning how to deal with all aspects of my life in a healthier way. Now after watching this video I have found another awesome tool for dealing with stress. A big thanks to Loretta.
Sincerely, Cathie Phillips
Helped some of my Eating Disorder IssuesMarch 6, 2002 Alexandra(Buffalo, NY United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've suffered my whole life (am now 38). This tape was the first thing I ever saw that helped me to actually laugh at myself and begin to gain some perspective on my irrational behavior. As an example, it has given me a whole new dimension of thought at the grocery store which has now become quite an amusing place to be.
There are many self-help books to deal with "worrying about what other people think". One hour listening to Loretta has been more helpful and memorable to me than the many books I have read through the years. I watch it on a regular basis. When I start getting too serious about myself I think of this tape and I'm laughingly brought back to reality.
The money spent on this tape has been the best money I spent in a very long time. You want to entertain? Invite people over to watch this; that is how I first watched it. :D
doesn't teach you how to deal with the problemJanuary 29, 2001 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
I think most of the jokes are so over done by other comedians. I know the reason why I'm stressed, and all I wanted was to find an easier way to deal with the problem. not make my self laugh by looking at the humor of my problem. It is true that humor can calm you down, but the problem does not go away.
Laughing at ourselvesApril 26, 2000 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This video was shown during a business class at school. We laughed so hard, we were crying -- mostly because everything Ms. LaRoche was so true! I just purchased this video to take to work and share with my co-workers!
super-duper; a must see for all!April 9, 2000 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I highly recommend this video. It was quite educational, helpful and hilarious! Ms. LaRoche is a talented therapist and she uses humor to illustrate her points. You will be on the floor in hysterics as you relate to her comparisons and laugh at yourself!
