Xtensor, a medically-supported exercise device that trains your finger extensor muscles and tendons, enabling hands to do more and perform better. Our hands are the most fundamental part of our everyday life. Whether we’re on a computer, assembly line, golfing, knitting or cooking, our hands take the brunt of the pain caused by Repetitive Motion Stress – Xtensor is a core training tool that improves range of motion in your fingers and structural stability in the wrist and elbow.  Easy-to-use, the device fits on your hand and stimulates the muscles that open the hands through the use of specifically designed finger bands that generate resistance to enable a natural path of motion. The Xtensor is the first device to specifically exercise the finger extensor muscles and tendons with pinpoint precision.  It is also approved to help strengthen the muscles of those affected by Osteoarthritis. You can learn more or purchase at www.thextensor.com. Costs range from $39.95 to $60.00.

*Xtensor sent us one of their units to try.  The device fits either hand so one unit will exercise both hands, comes with a DVD of exercises, bands that fit into the device and over your fingers, and very minimal instructions.  I would have liked just a little more detail on the setup instructions, I wasn't sure if I had the bands oriented correctly and in the correct slots, but it worked.  You put your fingers and thumb into small rings which will naturally have you making a fist, you then spread and straighten your fingers against the resistance of the ring bands.  The exercise DVD shows you four or five different movements to make that include rotating your forearm as you extend your fingers, if you use this regularly it would definitely work out the muscles and joints in your fingers and forearm.  We didn't have it for long enough to tell you how long the elastic rings will hold out, but the bosx they sent us did come with an extra set and sizes for tiny fingers up to pretty large diameter.  This product was reviewed by a HealthStatus staffer.
