It’s Time to Detoxify Your Body

The human body is constantly being put under pressure from both internal and external substances, and that’s why detoxifying your body from time to time can help to eliminate these toxins from your system. Diets that claim to remove toxins from the body in a matter of days have been around for many years, but they have not yet been scientifically proven to offer any real benefits to the human body. Many people still use detox diets regularly, though, and will attest to feeling refreshed and rejuvenated afterwards.

Detox with Liquids

This method of detoxifying the body requires you to consume nothing but liquids for two to three days. You can choose from a variety of different liquids, including tea, water, vegetable juices, fruit juices, or even protein shakes. It is, however, important to use a variety of different liquids to ensure that your body gets all the nutrients it requires. This method of detoxifying is supposed to cleanse the body and help weight loss by reducing calorie intake.

Detox with Fruit

This is a more satisfying method of detoxifying the body. On this diet you can eat either a variety of different fruits or stick to one particular type. Eating a variety of different fruits is probably the best way of ensuring that your body is receiving a wide range of nutrients, as well as preventing the diet from becoming too monotonous. You can choose to use a variety of traditional fruits in your diet, such as tangerines, oranges, grapefruits, blueberries, bananas and strawberries, or you can be more adventurous by trying things like dragon fruit, star fruit, kumquat or lychee. This detox method is a great way to increase your energy levels and help to maintain your weight. You should not carry out this method of detoxifying for more than seven days at a time.

Detox with Fruit and Vegetables

This method of detoxifying must actually be carried out for seven days to be effective. You can eat as many different fruits and vegetables as you wish – in fact, the more the better! Remember that it is always important to get all the nutrients you require each day, so choose items that contain a variety of different nutrients. Kidney beans, soya beans and black beans are foods high in dietary fiber, and sweet potato, carrots and bananas are good sources of potassium. Olives, avocados and coconuts are great foods to add to your diet to ensure that you are getting enough of the right fats. Finally, don’t overlook important sources of vitamin C that are present in oranges, strawberries, tomatoes, Brussels sprouts and bell peppers.

If you want to perform a longer detox, you can use other methods which involve eating only organically grown produce and meat. A long term detox, however, will require a lot more discipline and may be difficult to manage if you lead a busy lifestyle.
