Fasting – Doing nothing may be more beneficial than doing something.

Wounded animals will fast until they are healed and well enough to emerge and survive in their environment.  Can fasting also be beneficial to sick humans?

There are those that are claiming you can fast your way to better health.  Fasting can be effective with health conditions related to dietary excesses: high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, and cardio-pulmonary disease.

Fasting is willingly abstaining from food, drink or both.  A popular trend right now is the juice fast.       Juice fasts can last between 3 to 40 days.  European health facilities use 30 days as the standard juice fast.     During a juice fast it is important to drink fresh fruit and vegetable juices.  Water fast is the best way to clean out our bodies but it is harder to stick to.  Just 10 days of water fasting will remove toxins rapidly.  Many have found that by combining a juice fast and water fast they are able to get the benefits of the water fast without feeling like they are starving.  It takes longer than 30 days for your body to start cannibalizing organs to survive so don’t panic you are just cleaning out waste on the inside.

We contaminate our bodies by the foods we eat and the air we breathe.  Our bodies contain pesticides used in agriculture, unbeneficial food additives (such as preservatives for longer shelf life), drug residues, remnants from household chemicals.  Are lungs are full of carbon monoxide, lead and mercury from the pollution we breathe.  We need to eliminate these toxins from our bodies.  Fasting does just that.

Fasting eliminates dead, dying cells; unwanted fatty tissue; trans-fatty acids; mucus on intestinal walls; toxic waste in the blood stream; toxins in the spleen, liver and kidneys; mucus from the lungs and sinuses; and excess cholesterol.

Benefits of fasting are: weight loss; removes inner toxic waste; regain energy; breathing fuller; sensitivity to unhealthy food; healthy foods taste wonderful; feel satisfied with smaller portion sizes; organs revitalized; and heighten mental clarity.  Colon walls will be cleaned of impacted feces allowing for improved absorption of nutrients resulting in more energy.    Fasting improves insulin resistance, having a positive effect on those with diabetes and high blood sugar.  During a fast all the body’s resources are concentrating on self-healing.  Mental instability also benefits from fasting.  Getting rid of all the sugar and caffeine helps moods level.
