How to Use CBD to Quit Smoking

Using CBD oil may be the next big way to break smoking habits. Two studies over the past few years have been shown that CBD oil can have a very positive effect on smoking habits and nicotine addiction. The first study, done in 2013, had a group of participants use a CBD inhaler – half that actually had CBD and half that did not. What scientists found was that the placebo inhalers had no effect on the smokers, but the inhalers with the CBD caused the users to reduce their smoking by 40%. Another study done more recently had half of a group of participants take an 800mg CBD pill and the other half took a placebo. The participants were then shown triggering photos meant to mimic high-pressure social situations where someone might be influenced by others smoking, such as a party. What they found was that the CBD reduces the “pleasantness” of the trigger photos. Scientists believe that this is because nicotine and smoking addiction is not only a physical addiction but a mental one too, and the CBD oil reduces the anxiety and stress that might lead someone to smoke again, especially in these high-trigger situations where temptation is at a maximum.

Key Points:

  • 1CBD can help reduce the desire to smoke cigarettes in any form (flower, dab, edible, oral).
  • 2CBD has been proven to work in studies where the people on CBD were able to deal with quitting or slowing down their cigarette intake substantially.
  • 3Using the flower to smoke CBD is probably the easiest way to stop smoking cigarettes, but should only be done initially as it can also be harmful to your health.

Researchers found that those using the CBD inhaler reduced their cigarette intake by 40 percent, while those using the placebo had no significant change.
