Opiates include prescription medicine and synthetically made medicine. Opiate addiction is a very serious condition that many people in America suffer from every day. The number of opiate death rose 47% from January 2014 to January 2018. Most of the time this addiction goes overlooked or untreated; hopefully, CBD in addiction treatment can help.
Opiates work by adhering to the pain receptors in our brain that make us feel healthy and happy. Our body naturally produces endorphins which do this. When opiates are taken every day our body will not think that it has to produce these endorphins anymore because the opiates are already surrounding the receptors.
Consequently, when we try to quit taking these opiates our body no longer makes enough endorphins to make us feel happy so we become addicted to having the opiates. Researchers are now studying whether CBD will help people who are addicted to opiates.
CBD is a chemical that is naturally found in the marijuana plant. It can alleviate pain and make our body produce the endorphins that it needs. Moreover, CBD has been shown to help with depression and anxiety, which happen to be the same symptoms a person going through withdrawals will experience. Yes, people having withdrawals experience anxiety and depression.
If we can make our body go through the whole withdrawal process and train our body how to work again, we will be ok. People who are addicted to opiates just turn to more opiates to feel better which keeps the cycle going over and over again.
What CBD can do is that it can help the addict cope with the pain that comes with having withdrawals. CBD also speeds up the making of serotonin in the brain which is another chemical that helps with us feeling happy. When we are addicted to opiates our body quits producing serotonin because it thinks it no longer needs it.
The number one cause of addiction is the relapse of trying to quit. An addict will always go back to the easy thing of that next high – “Just one more,” they will say. But one more turns into one more and another one and the cycle of wanting for more continues.
With CBD we can help our body get through the process. This along with counseling and support we can manage to get over the opiate addiction. Thank you for showing me this article.
Yes CBD can help reduce certain effects. It starts by reducing the CBD effects. #HealthStatus
- 1 Life-sustaining activities, such as eating, release endorphins into the brain, promoting a positive association and desire to repeat these activities.
- 2 The brain learns to associate circumstances and environmental cues with these activities.
- 3 In the case of eating, these positive associations could be a mouth-watering smell or favorite restaurant that triggers hunger.
