Positivie Influence

1 Corinthians 15:33 says, “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

I was once told that we become in life the product of two things-

  • The books we read and
  • The people we associate with

I remember as a youngster growing up, there was this one kid in my neighborhood that for some reason I just loved hanging out with.  The only problem was that whenever he and I were together, we got into a lot of trouble.  My mother didn’t like this kid too much- guess I know now why.

Well today’s message is intended for you to give careful thought and consideration to the people you’re spending time with, and who you’re allowing to influence you.

You see when we hang out with people who are in life where we want to be- we’re positively influenced.  They inspire us to new levels of excellence and growth.

But when we spend our time with others who are not of high character or not headed in life where we want to go, then we’re negatively influenced.  You see they tend to drag us down and take us away from the goals and dreams that we’ve set for ourselves.

Well how about your work life?

Are you spending your time with people who are influencing you in the right direction, or are you allowing negative people to shape your thoughts, actions, and attitudes?  What kinds of jokes, and stories, and language are they using? Do they seem to always want to “bend the rules” just little a bit?

Just be reminded that- “bad company corrupts good character.”

So stay clean and hang out with the right people.

Because when you do this- you will be applying The Truth@Work.

Application Questions:

  • 1What does this message say to you?
  • 2Are there any people in your life who might be dragging you down or who are negative?
  • 3What are some scriptures that might be able to help you with these relationships?
