What’s In It For Me?

Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you.   A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.”

If you read almost any business book or publication on the area of sales, marketing, growing a company, leading people, etc. it’s likely it will tell you that a basic element of human psychology is that when making decisions people are concerned with the concept of WIIFM.   Now this means, what’s in it for me?

But let’s take a further look at the verse. Jesus tells us that when we first enter into a relationship or situation we should be more concerned about what we can give to this person or what we can do for this person more than what we can get from this person.

And it also tells us that if we do so the return will be unbelievable.   For when we give, we get so much more in return.   Well in terms of business, think of it this way.   When we offer great customer service, we gain a satisfied customer, which usually leads to repeat business or they refer other customers to us.

Or when we deal with a problem employee in a caring, constructive, and concerned manner we usually receive improved performance.

When we do what’s right, regardless of the circumstances, we receive incredible blessings in return.   For when we give first, it comes back to us in greater measure than what we gave, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing.

To Experience True Growth and Success:

  • 1Ask yourself, what you can give to this person.
  • 2Then just sit back and watch God work.

Never forget we can’t out give God.   No matter how hard we try.

Well if you will give first, you will be applying the Truth@Work.
