All of us deal with anxiety at least some of the time. When it’s upon us, everything gets harder. Anxiety can be triggered by many sources, but whether it starts within or without, it settles into our heads and keeps us from locking down on being our best. Psychologists consider anxiety a mental condition, even though it does often have some physical symptoms. But the worst effects of anxiety happen in our thoughts and mood, and come in a variety of forms.
An obvious form of anxiety would be a panic attack, or a severe phobia; but it doesn’t have to be that strong. Even a simple level of social shyness can manifest anxiety and keep us from engaging with others or with what we need to get done. A rising form of diagnosed anxiety that’s been in the news in recent years is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. And PTSD isn’t just something soldiers who’ve been to war experience; PTSD can strike anyone who’s had a sufficiently alarming experience. Even some forms of milder anxiety, like an animal fear or a lower level of panic attacks, can evolve into PTSD if the experiences become severe enough.
Psychologists can help treat anxiety, in whatever form it takes for you. From therapy to medication, they can help you ease past the problem and become the best you possible.
Don’t panic. You don’t have to suffer anxiety. Treatment options can offer relief. #HealthStatus
