With the most expensive colleges in the United States costing $60,000 plus per year, the total investment to send a child off to get a higher education can easily top $300,000. Given this is the same price as a nice well equipped home in many areas people are becoming more interested in the return on investment that a college education generates.
The varying quality, length, and cost of educations at institutions around the country make this a nebulous issue. People affect the study as well, some individuals will put in far more work then others and translate their degrees into successful careers, while others may not. Despite the tangible benefits of higher education it is difficult to see how a parents investment in their childs upbringing and future truly pays off.
