Step #8 to heal your hormones

Yesterday I said that Step #7 was my favorite, but it’s really a toss-up between yesterday and today… Who could NOT want PLEASURE to be their favorite step?
Before we jump into why pleasure is so important for healing your hormones, if you’ve missed ANY of the Steps so far, be sure to go back to the previous posts to catch up because each one builds on the previous one.
Step #8: Pleasure.
It’s pretty clear why pleasure is so important for hormone balance, but let’s review anyway because I was SO BAD at this step. Maybe because I didn’t know it was so important.
If you had said to me, “Robin, just get a little bit more pleasure in your life and you’ll stop feeling so exhausted and resentful,” I probably would have said, “What?! Really?” Resentment equals lack of self care. Ohhhh, that was me.
Pleasure trumps stress every time. So, if the hormone deal-breakers are things that cause stress to your body, then PLEASURE replaces stress. You can’t be stressed and in pleasure at the same time.
Pleasure, by definition, means getting into your body and out of your head.
So what things are pleasurable to you? …a hot bath with your favorite essential oils and a candle, a beautiful comforter on your bed that feels so good, an outfit that makes you feel like a million bucks, intimacy with someone you really care about, a walk on the beach, dancing and letting it all go, meditation, snuggling, petting your cat or your dog, a delicious meal, a long hug…. Pleasure helps us to build hormones that just make us feel good, and lowers stress hormones.

What act of pleasure(s) will you do today to get back into balance?
Tomorrow, I’ll share Step #9. It’s the final step!
