How To Work Out

How do you work out? Well, you just put on some old sweats and some comfy sneakers and start sweatin’ right? Weeeell, there may be a little more to it than that. One thing to keep in mind before starting an exercise regimen is whether or not you are healthy enough to workout.

No seriously, always talk to your doctor before beginning an exercise program, especially if you have any medical conditions such as a heart condition. Persons with a heart condition starting an exercise program on their own may not have to worry about exercising ever again, and I don’t mean that in a good way.
One of the most effective methods of working out is to hire a personal trainer if you can afford it. They will design not only the best exercise routines suitable for your needs but they will design a proper nutrition regimen as well. They will also be there to motivate you and make sure you perform the exercises correctly.

If you are like most of us and can’t quite swing the cost of the personal trainer, the second best method is to join a gym that offers trainers to assist your routine. It won’t be quite the same as a one on one trainer, but it still gets the job done and they will usually help you plan an effective nutritional plan as well.

If however you are of the “do it yourself” mindset and/or even the gym fees are out of range, and/or you just think you will never go because it is too much trouble to drive there, you can exercise at home just as effectively. Well, almost as effectively, the gym has all those nifty exercise machines that isolate certain muscle groups; still, you can get a good workout at home.
How do I do this you ask? Well, you just put on some old sweatpants and comfy sneakers, no I’m just kidding. An exercise mat will come in handy here, and you can buy workout videos that are almost like having a personal trainer except you can cheat if you want to and they will never know.

To keep the cost down they have second hand sporting equipment stores all over the place these days and it’s likely you can get a deal there on some free weights or if you want to get fancy an exercise machine may be available. An even cheaper way to get the equipment is to check around on free sites like craigslist or freecycle.com, often times you can find useful items on these sites, I actually got about $2000 worth of brand new sheets of plywood on there a couple of years ago for free!
The actual exercise routine will be different for everyone because everyone is different, and it is likely that you have different “problem areas” and goals. But the important things to remember are to first check with your doctor to see if you are healthy enough to exercise safely (he may have some advice and/or tips for you as well).

Eating healthy is very important; if you are eating fast food and candy all day exercise isn”t going to be as effective as with a proper diet with meat, fruit, vegetables, grains, etc.
