Millions of Americans have tried to lose weight at some point in their lives, whether they want to do so for a wedding or event, or for the rest of their lives. But if someone told you that you could lose weight while sleeping, you would probably think they were trying to sell you a bridge that didn’t exist.
How much you sleep at night is an actual scientific part of your human body that could be preventing you from losing weight the way you want, for a number of reasons.
And it’s not because you are toddling over to the fridge when you can’t sleep after you stayed up to watch the late news. Find out right here the five ways to lose weight while sleeping in 5 easy ways.
1. Lose Weight While Sleeping Off Cravings
When you want to lose weight while sleeping, the key is to sleep more. One study showed that people that are sleep deprived have a greater amount of hormones called endocannabinoids in their bodies, and this is the hormone that makes us hungry.
But when we have an increase in that hormone, we aren’t going to be reaching for carrots. It will be ice cream, potato chips, and high fat or high carb foods.
Sleep more, and watch these cravings slow down. You will literally lose weight while sleeping off those cravings.
2. Feel More Full When Rested
When you want to lose weight while sleeping, you can do so by taking more care of your overall health. When you do, you find your eating habits will change.
Not only will you cut off some of those high-fat cravings, but you will also notice that you are more full at mealtimes when you are well-rested. This is because of the hormone leptin, that helps you to lose weight.
When you are well-rested, you have normal levels of leptin and feel full after normal amounts of food. We eat to fuel our bodies.
So it makes more sense that we might eat more when not rested. Lose weight by sleeping by feeling more full and eating less at mealtimes. Simple.
3. More Energy to Work Out
You likely won’t work out when you are tired, and this is yet another way you can lose weight while sleeping. When you are overtired, you don’t want to do anything, and may miss one or two workouts while your body gets adjusted to your sleep routine.
But if you are well-rested, you are more likely to work out the following day. At the same time, the more hours you spend in sleep periods, the more normalized your metabolism is, and the easier it is to lose weight while sleeping.
4. Higher Metabolism
When you are sleeping comfortably, and for the right amount of time on a regular basis, your metabolic rate is where it needs to be to lose weight while sleeping. If you are going to bed tired every single night, and waking up tired, it’s because your metabolic rate has slowed down to the point where it’s taking some time to get your energy back.
You aren’t going to lose weight that way. And, if you have an uncomfortable bed, the same thing will happen as you are more prone to fatigue if you don’t have a comfortable sleep.
You may need to just make a switch of mattresses. Research foam vs spring mattresses to find out what one will help you sleep better, and lose weight when you do.
Sleep Better Lose Weight
There is a wide body of evidence that suggests you can lose weight while sleeping, or at least, sleeping better. It is estimated that as many as 49 percent of American adults are trying to lose weight right now.
Of those 49 percent, most Americans are trying to exercise more and eat healthier in order to lose weight. But if you are among the 30 percent of Americans that aren’t sleeping longer than a few hours nightly, you’re going to find that your weight loss journey is longer than you want it to be.
You can lose weight while sleeping if you are on the right regimen. But most importantly, for overall health, you can lose weight while sleeping better.
Start your weight loss journey again the right way, because when you sleep better, you lose weight, and you feel better.
