Out-of-Hospital Births are on the Rise

Is it 1741? Are we headed back in time a few hundred years? Looking around you would think not, but a new and rising trend to have out-of-hospital births might indicate otherwise. Despite massive effort on behalf of the medical industry and huge advances over the last 100 years some people still choose to forgo medical care and advice when bringing new children into the world.
Unsurprisingly, Medicaid and private insurers are hesitant to pay for any of these services, and given the risks involved this is unlikely to change in the near future despite the methods increasing popularity. Traditional hippie and counter culture bastions like the pacific northwest are seeing the highest reported rates of these births, with nearly 60,000 reported in 2014.
