Is Kratom Nature’s Answer to Opioids?

Given the opioid addiction crisis, patients and physicians are now searching for less addictive alternative for pain control. One of nature’s answers to opioids is a kratom dosage.

Kratom is a tree whose leaves are used for medicinal purposes. Opioids are a class of drugs that relieve pain and relax the body. However, they make people feel high due to their psychotropic or mind-altering effects.

They are also not safe to use because they are highly addictive. There have been reports of overdoses and death associated with opioids.   Common prescription opioids include codeine, Vicodin, fentanyl and morphine.

What are Opioids?

Opioids are a class of drugs made from opium poppy plant. This plant has compounds that relieve pain and relax the body. They play a crucial role in relieving acute and chronic pain though they can treat diarrhea and cough.

Opioids are also used for non-medical reasons because they are capable of making someone feel high and relaxed. This is one of the main reasons why many people misuse prescription opioids.

They are also highly addictive and one can develop tolerance after using them for a long time.

They are safer when taken for a short time. If taken for a longer time, people tend to misuse them by taking them in a way not prescribed by the doctor. Misuse includes taking opioids for the effect it causes of feeling high.

People are replacing them with Kratom because of their side effects. Opioids have harmful effects such as nausea, constipation, slowed breathing, confusion and euphoria. Older adults are at higher risk of accidental misuse because they have chronic diseases that require opioids prescription.

Opioids work by blocking pain signals sent from the brain to the body. Pain such as headache, injury, inflammation and joint pain is effectively blocked bringing calmness effect.

What is Kratom?

Kratom is a plant that grows in Southeast Asia. For many years, people used to chew its leaves to get an extra boost of energy while working on their farms.

It was also used to treat cough, fatigue, diarrhea and pain. Due to its medicinal properties, it eventually found its way to western countries.

The leaves of the tree are consumed by putting in capsules, boiling into tea, drying and smoking. It is easy to obtain as a dietary supplement in the U.S.A. Its uses include helping prevent withdrawal symptoms from opiates and treatment of pain. Other names for Kratom include kakuam, biak, thang, ketum and thom.

Kratom Dosage

Kratom is used as an alternative to prescription pain medication such as opioids. You can purchase it online, at tea stores and pharmacies. At low doses, it acts as a stimulant making someone feel energetic and calm. At higher doses, it reduces pain.

It will act as a sedative at very high doses. This will make you quiet or feel sleepy. Kratom is plant based hence it is safe to consume. It can help fix the opioid crisis because one cannot develop tolerance unlike with Opioid.

A surgery can bring about chronic pain. Surgery such as hernia repair, plastic surgery, cardiac bypass surgery can leave you feeling severe pain for over 4 months. In such cases, a doctor will prescribe opioid drugs.

They will make you feel better for a while but after some time, they won’t help at all. Opioid users usually build up a tolerance to these doses. Then there are side effects which will need other drugs to manage them.

Opioid side effects include nausea, sweating, hallucinations, dry mouth, itching, to name a few. Despite their side effects, you are forced to take the prescriptions because without them, you cannot function at all.

This sounds scary, right? Fear not because kratom is what you have been looking for. It is natural and therefore safe to consume. In fact, it is a member of the coffee family and was used many years ago to boost energy and manage pain.

Kratom have health benefits with no side effects. It will relieve acute and chronic pain from diseases and conditions such as migraines, arthritis, osteoarthritis and cancer. It is also effective in relieving post surgical pain. Additionally, Kratom drugs will not lead to tolerance when used repeatedly unlike with opioid.

Can Kratom Dosage help fix the Opioid Crisis?

Kratom is a harmless plant making it a good alternative to opioid drugs. A Kratom dosage will help you kick your opioid habit. It is currently used to alleviate pain and treat withdrawal symptoms from opioids.

Kratom is a tree used many years ago in Southeast Asia for its medicinal purposes. Currently, its leaves are imported from Thailand in the form of capsule or green powder. It has become increasingly popular, both as an herbal supplement and as a recreational substance.

It is not illegal in the USA and you can use it as a supplement. It has become nature’s answer to opioids crisis because it has health benefits with no side effects.

Opioids Addiction

The rate of addiction to opioids has increased in recent years. This has led to patients look for less addictive alternatives for pain control. Kratom aids recovery from addiction by lessening withdrawal and reducing cravings.

However, many publications report that Kratom has not been extensively studied and it is not safe to take it without medical supervision or a prescription.

Prescription Opioids have serious side effects. They include nausea, headache, constipation, drowsiness and slowed breathing. On the other hand, there are no reports of serious side effects associated with usage of Kratom.

Opioids Tolerance

Long term use of prescription causes patients to develop tolerance. This means that the drug becomes ineffective after some time unless you receive a higher dosage to get the desired effects.

There are no reports of patients developing drug tolerance with Kratom. That is why it is used in recovery from opioid addiction.

Kratom has saved many lives of people.   On online forums such as Reddit, there are many posts with people testifying the benefits of Kratom.

Some people said that they were hooked on prescription Opioids for a long time but were relieved after using Kratom.

Wondering who wrote this and if they ever tried kratom because saying it’s harmless and no side effects is a plain lie.

As a recovering addict of opioids and past user of kratom also/ I suppose it might be healthier to use kratom in place of while beginning recovery, but kratom is no miracle drug and even if it’s natural: I will say I’ve had good and bad times with it and most recent I’ve only used it to get tattooed as it helps the pain. The last time I used it I got very paranoid and emotional/ irritable and snappy. I had a mental breakdown. It scared me so much that I haven’t touched it since and I’ll add that the person I got it from also had a kratom addiction and couldn’t stop. He also was a bit crazy from it. So just beware. If you want to stop opioids then you need to stop with tapering off or seek professional treatment/ rehab in my opinion. Not replace it with kratom.
