Hey Champion,
If you’re like many people, you’ve got a demanding job, a family who needs you, and a never-ending to-do list. No wonder you feel tired or depressed, anxious, irritable and stressed.
Stress activates the fight-or-flight response, the body’s involuntary response to a threat that makes our hearts pound and our breath shorten.
Chief among the hormones released during this response is the stress hormone, cortisol.
Cortisol automatically kicks up your appetite, prompting you not only to want to eat huge quantities but especially to want sweets and simple carbohydrates–foods that make insulin levels spike and then plummet–which may leave you feeling hungrier than ever and eating again.
For by wisdom your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you. Proverbs 9:11
Wow, increase in wisdom and you will live longer!
In Proverbs 9:1-4, wisdom is identified as a woman. Women reproduce life.
Wisdom has built her house.
She has hewn out her seven pillars.
She has slaughtered her meat.
She has mixed her wine.
She has also furnished her table.
She has sent out her maidens.
She cries out from the highest places of the city.
Exercise of the Week: Read and meditate on Proverbs 9. It is laced with deep veins of gold.
