While both Alzheimer’s and Dementia are similar the two diseases do vary. Both diseases are brain function disorders. Alzheimer’s affects the parts of the brain that control language, thought and memory. Dementia on the other hand affects communication and the ability to perform daily activities. Alzheimer’s is not curable at this time. Some forms of dementia can be reversed. Particularly if the cause is due to a drug interaction or a vitamin deficiency. To accurately determine what is going on doctors will perform blood tests, mental evaluations and brain scans.
