33 Ways to Sleep Better at a Hotel

You’re on the road, away from the comfort of your home and bed, yet you still need to function and get a good night’s rest.  You never know what to expect when you book a hotel room.  Is there a soccer team booked at the same time on the same floor?  Here are some tips to help you get a better night’s sleep when you are on the road.

Here are a few tips from the article:

Book a room on an upper floor away from the elevator and vending machines.

Make sure the hotel isn’t undergoing renovation.

Pack earplugs if you are sensitive to noise.

Take your own pillow and sheets if you have the room.  (I have friends who always travel with their pillows).

Bring a familiar fragrance spray.  Give the room a spritz.

Drink a small glass of wine or a small cup of chamomile tea can help you get to sleep.

Use the “do not disturb” sign.

Adjust the room temperature.  Most people sleep better in a cooler room.

Turn on the bathroom light.

Hope your summer travel is painless and restful!

Key Points

  • 1Being out of your own environment can be stressful.
  • 2Masking outside noises or a white noise machine can help you sleep better.
  • 3Try not to use the bed for anything other than sleep when possible.

Get out of bed if you can’t sleep.  This is a good all-around rule for traveling or at home.
