Andrographis is a very sensitive and complex plant. How well it works depends on which part of the plant is used. It also depends on where it was grown and what time of year it was harvested. And how it’s harvested makes a difference in how effective it is, too.

And it’s very important that the andrographis you choose has enough of the active ingredient, called andrographolide. I see a lot of andrographis for sale with a measly 10%.

And don’t be fooled if it says “full spectrum” on the label. That’s a sneaky way of saying the active ingredient isn’t standardized. In that case, the amount of andrographolide will be even less.

If your andrographis doesn’t have enough andrographolide, you won’t get the best results. That means there’s a good chance you’ll be disappointed.

That’s why you have to make sure the andrographis you buy is properly lab tested. And it should have at least 50% andrographolide.

The Soviet Secret That Won Their Olympians 33% More Medals

Remember back in the 1970s when the Soviet Union used to dominate the Olympics? Their athletes seemed almost “super-human.” The U.S. athletes just couldn’t keep up.

How did the Soviets do it? The secret lies in my second cold-and-flu fighting ingredient. It’s called eleuthero (el-LOO-ther-oh). In Chinese medicine, eleuthero is used to combat stress and increase “chi,” which means energy.

For thousands of years, eleuthero was hardly known outside of China. But then, a Soviet scientist discovered it growing in a forest in southeastern Russia.

The scientist ran some studies and soon realized this was no ordinary plant. He advised Soviet officials, and they quickly assigned a team of 1,200 of their smartest scientists to examine the plant more closely. The Kremlin suspected it could give them a competitive edge over the West. And they soon found out they were right.

The Soviet Union started giving eleuthero to their athletes when they were training. Then, at the 1972 Olympic games, the Soviet Union pulled ahead of the U.S. in medal count. And from that point until the end of the Cold War, the Soviets won more medals than the Americans every year but one – the year the Soviet Union boycotted the Los Angeles Olympics.

But the Soviets didn’t just give it to their Olympians. They also gave eleuthero to their cosmonauts. They gave it to their Bolshoi Ballet dancers. And they gave it to their military.

And all along, they guarded their secret. The Kremlin banned the researchers from discussing their findings with anyone. It wasn’t until years after the end of the cold war that news about this remarkable plant finally made it to the West.

So how does eleuthero make people perform better? It does because it’s an adaptogen.

As you may know, an adaptogen is a substance that helps your body adjust any functions that aren’t working as well as they should. If you’re low on energy, it helps energize your body.
