Could Bad Oils Be Holding You Back?

Could Bad Oils Be Holding You Back?

You may have been taught that cooking with vegetable oils like margarine, canola, sunflower, safflower or corn oil is a better choice for your overall health than butter, ghee, or coconut oil.

Have you ever heard of

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!®?

The truth is, these highly refined and over-processed oils may be doing more harm than good when it comes to healing your hormones.

Achieving and maintaining hormone harmony can be challenging, but one of the major hormone deal-breakers is inflammation. Inflammation is a major cause of stress to your beautiful body that can cause all types of health issues.

By reducing inflammation you can allow your body to heal and find hormone balance. Over refined oils such as canola, margarine, safflower, soybean and corn can wreak havoc on your health by causing major inflammation in your body.

They are overprocessed, genetically modified and contain mostly omega 6 fats.

Not only do these oil cause and raise inflammation in the body, they also imbalance the omega 6 to omega 3 fat ratio in the body.

(Canola oil is considered an omega 3 fat, but we are not a fan for many reasons.)

This inflammation can reduce the availability of essential fats like omega 3’s into our tissues – in turn causing more inflammation.

The over consumption of these omega 6 fats, like corn, soybean and sunflower, can increase

  • Obesity
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Metabolic Syndrome or Pre-diabetes
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Inflammation
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis

Here are some of our favorite omega 6 foods to include into your daily diet that have a healthier impact on the body:

  • Walnuts
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Sesame seeds
  • Pasture raised poultry
  • Pasture eggs
  • Pumpkin Seeds

Many prepackaged foods contain these badoils, so be sure to read the ingredient label!

We approve of the following fats to use in your diet:

  • 100% grass fed organic butter and ghee
  • Organic olive oil, cold pressed, extra virgin
  • Coconut
  • Avocado
  • Grapeseed
  • Sesame
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Egg yolk from organic, pastured chickens

READ LABELS!

You’d be surprised. Even organic products like hummus, can contain these unhealthy fats.

For improved hormone balance and overall health, ditch the chips and load your fridge with some whole, real, nourishing foods to help reduce inflammation and create hormone harmony.
