If you have ever been pregnant you know just how debilitating that “pregnancy fatigue” can be. It can make you want to spend all day in bed. It is one of the most common symptoms pregnant women suffer from, particularly during the first trimester. It is due to the huge increase in hormones during this first phase of pregnancy.
Unfortunately for most women, dropping everything to take a nap when the fatigue hits is not an option. But good news – there are ways to help conquer this monster! The first way is to make sure you are getting enough sleep. Try to create a consistent sleep/wake schedule and aim for about 8-9 hours of shuteye per night.
Another way to fight fatigue is to get a good workout. It doesn’t have to be strenuous. A walk around the office or neighborhood, swimming laps, and even prenatal yoga are all great ways to get moving without exhausting you further.
Another option is to pay attention to what you are eating. Avoid added sugar, empty carbs, and fried food. They can all zap your energy and leave you feeling even more tired. Instead, focus on filling up on who grains, food high in protein, and of course, always include plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit in your diet.
Eating more to combat pregnancy fatigue? You bet! #HealthStatus
