The article “It’s Never Too Late to Find Your Calling Through Work” describes a book featured on NPR called “Callings” in which people explain how they found meaningful work and what makes the work they do worthwhile to them. The article explains that these people are divided into two basic catagories: people who had the sudden urge to do something completely different, and people who have found they are good at what they do and are appreciated from the start of their careers. I especially liked the profile of the CPA who after retirement, decided to go slice lox at a deli for a living and found it more meaningful than his work as a CPA.
This article offers hope to those not currently finding meaning in what they do.
