Lucid dreams have an effect on sleep quality. People often are unaware of the factors that contribute to this fact, even though about 55% of people have had a lucid dream at one point or another in their lives.
A lucid dream is a dream that is very stimulating and yet you are aware you are dreaming. Often times the dreamer will have some control over the dream itself. First off, we are not quite sure what causes lucid dreams. Science is quite new as to explaining this sleep event. We are aware that this does occur, though, during REM sleep. This is our dream state of sleep.
Next, sleep quality can be quite negatively effected. What happens is that lucid dreams can be quite emotional. This can wake you up from a lucid dream, releasing adrenaline, and causing it to be quite difficult to go back to sleep there after.
What can we do to prevent these from happening? It has been found that there is quite a bit that you can actually do. First off, you can go to bed and wake at the same time each day. You can also avoid caffeine. Also, you can engage in physical exercise. Yoga or weight lifting are two examples on what you might want to look into doing. If all else fails, it is best to let it run it’s course.
