Tea For PCOS

Tea For PCOS

Often times we are so focused on what foods can help support us on our healing journey we forget to talk about beverages.

As the seasons change from warm to cold you may find yourself craving warm beverages that feel comforting. In warmer weather there is nothing better than an ice cold beverage to quench your thirst.

What you drink may just be as important as the foods you eat and may even help reverse symptoms of PCOS.

Teas are some of our favorite beverages to incorporate into our daily routine. Often times you can even find seasonal selections that can be an amazing replacement to some of your not so healthy holiday favorites.

Teas are easy to either make ahead or when you are in the mood. So many teas use a combination of herbs and spices that can help balance hormones, support digestion and aid in detoxification.

Stay Hormonally Balanced

These three teas can easily be found at your local market. They have proven positive effects for women struggling with symptoms of PCOS.

Spearmint – Studies have shown that enjoying 2 -3 cups of spearmint tea daily can help reduce levels of free testosterone in our bodies, a key factor for symptoms of PCOS.

Red Raspberry Leaf – Is loaded with vitamin B6. B vitamins are essential for balancing hormones like estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.

Stinging Nettle – Works to help stabilize and maximize the endocrine system by using and distributing hormones where and when needed.

Detox, Detox, Detox

Detoxification is essential for women who want clearer skin, more energy and regular periods. These 3 teas help support the liver and the detoxification process.

Dandelion Root – Is not only a powerful detoxifier it also contain powerful antioxidants as well as active compounds that can help regulate blood sugar levels.

Milk Thistle – Is wonderful for promoting a healthy liver by healing damaged liver cells and protecting the liver against damage in the first place. Milk thistle has been found to reduce excess estrogen and reduce insulin resistance.

Turmeric – Aides in detoxification by stimulating bile in the gallbladder, your liver is then effectively able to remove excess androgens and estrogens, along with environmental toxins from the body.

Digestion: We Are What We Absorb

Digestion is a key factor for how we look and feel. Keeping our digestion in tip top shape can help reduce inflammation, aide in absorption of necessary nutrients as well as reduce unwanted symptoms of PCOS.

Ginger – This powerful spicy root stimulates muscles in your intestines to aide in digestion and absorption of vitamins and minerals.

Lemon – All though lemon is essential for detox lemon tea is also a great option for digestion as well – not to mention can give a great boost of energy!

Licorice Root – Is used to soothe the digestive track and is a great option when dealing with gas, bloating or an upset stomach. Licorice root can soothe the lining of the stomach and intestines and can help reduce inflammation.

Shopping the tea aisle always gets me excited! There are so many options with so many benefits. Many teas have a combination of herbs and spices designed to help with a specific need. Often times I opt for a tea that just sounds the most delicious!
