UK Researchers to Study the Effects of Cannabidiol on Brain Tumors in Children

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is helping the return of cannabis from the unfortunate banning it faced throughout most of the twentieth century. Medical researchers investigating CBD are producing findings that show it has real, serious, and very beneficial medical applications that can help patients modern medicine is failing to. In the United Kingdom, British researchers continue to look into these applications, seeking to understand what and why CBD can succeed despite where other pharmaceuticals aren’t.

One avenue of investigation is focusing on pediatric neurological tumors. Put simply, children with brain cancer. Doctors who have to work with these children, many of whom are often very sick, are extremely eager for anything that could not only treat, but even simply improve quality of life for their minor patients. CBD research is receiving a lot of strong support from pediatric neurologists as a result.

The hope is CBD can be shown to help inhibit the growth of brain tumors. Another is that even if it can’t stop the dividing malignant cells, it might at least improve the general well being of the children suffering from these out of control tumor growths. Brain cancer is the most common type of cancer seen in children under the age of fourteen, and is the primary cause of cancer related death for the same age range.
