What Is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy has existed for thousands of years and has been used for many purposes throughout history. The term hypnosis means “to fall asleep” and is an abbreviation of a Greek term meaning “sleep of the nervous system”. A person who is hypnotized is highly suggestive, and recently hypnotherapy has become a very popular tool for aiding with weight loss.

What Is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state which is achieved through hypnotherapy in which a subject is open to suggestions and follows those particular suggestions. In hypnosis, a person is said to be hypnotized and therefore able to perform some actions that he or she was either unable to or unwilling to before being hypnotized. Not everyone can achieve this state, and usually those people who want to be hypnotized do get hypnotized.

What Is The Advantage Of Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy can be used in a very positive way by making a subject more willing to stick to a weight loss regime. This technique is new as compared to the thousands of years old practice of hypnotism. This is a very positive way to help a person meet their weight loss goals, by making them more resistant to temptation and building their will power.

Who Can Perform Hypnotherapy?

Usually a trained hypnotherapist should be contacted for this purpose as not all hypnosis techniques work. There are many methods though which self hypnosis can be achieved as well but they require tremendous amount of patience and lots of practice. Self hypnosis techniques have also been successful for helping people reach their weight loss goals.

Does Hypnotherapy Work?

Hypnotherapy can work if a person is open to it as an option. It helps build your will power and helps you stay on a strict exercise and diet plan without giving in to temptations. Most people who try hypnotherapy are highly open to the technique, and try it usually when they have time and again failed to stick to a weight loss plan. A trained hypnotherapist can help you build your will power and resistance so that you can actually reach your ideal weight. Self hypnosis techniques are also very effective, if the person doing them is really determined to try them out.

It's interesting that a person who has been influenced by hypnosis can do things that they normally would be unable or unwilling to perform. I would love to do this to my kids so they would stop being so rowdy and stop leaving such big messes! It would actually be really helpful if we try to fly because my daughter always gets really freaked out on planes which is the cause a lot of discomfort for everyone involved.
