Low Back Help November 6, 2009 Tri Geezer (Delaware) One third of the way thru this book I can say it was worth the investment. Comprehensive, exhaustive on a subject I Seek info because of my personal medical experience. I am not a trained professional, so some of it is difficult to comprehend. But I know there is help for me in the text.
Question re 2002 vs. 2007 June 10, 2009 smiley (San Francisco) I see that both editions link to the same collection of reviews. Has anyone compared the two editions, or do you know what the difference is? The older one is cheaper.
Excellent resource June 5, 2009 Scott A. Johnson (Vancleave, MS) What an outstanding resource! I have been in practice 16 years and am still learning from this book. Dr. McGill, through his research, has given a logical explanation to many phenomenae that I see in practice, but never "learned" in school. I think that many professionals could benefit from this work.
Technical and scientifically detailed, but very good! May 12, 2009 Book gobbler (Turku, Finland) Like the title says, very good and interesting book, but not a very easy read. I would recommend first reading Rick Jemmett's book on Spinal Stabilization and only after that giving this a try.
Anyway, I loved this book and immediately ordered also McGill's other book! Can hardly wait to get it as well... :-)
Good info. maybe outdated, too technical for average reader November 3, 2008 T. Villarreal (Streamwood, IL United States) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
It appears that some of the research in this book is older-not the most recent findings available. I was hoping this would provide a user friendly presentation of back disorders found in the population today and applicable evidence. I am somewhat familiar with anatomy from both Pilates and Yoga training but still didn't get a lot from this book. The studies showed pictures and older equipment, the material may be beneficial for some but a warning to the general population just hoping to learn more about their own body/injury and prevention or rehabilitation exercises-not that promising from my perspective. Obviously I am not a medical professional but I do think this book would be more valuable to someone with anatomy experience.
